Jesus walking on the Water - Original: Sold Artist Commentary: The boat is tossed about in a violent storm, and the apostles are in various emotional states ranging from quiet dread to noisy panic. Then Jesus comes walking across the water toward them, confounding all the laws of nature, and revealing a new dimension of his divinity. In this event, man too is revealed to himself. Peter’s initial impulsive to leap out of the boat is quickly followed by his doubt, and he begins to sink. Even then, Jesus takes his hand and raises him up. |
