Artist's commentary: St. Jean Vianney, the humble Curé of Ars, is the patron saint of parish priests. So effective was he in the cinversion of souls through his sacramental ministry, that Satan assaulted him spiritually and bodily, declaring at one point that if there were four such priests in the world, he (Satan) would be defeated. This painting is in the chapel of the Companions of the Cross novitiate, Combermere, Ontario.
