Artist Commentary: “Let the little children come to me.” Jesus often speaks with layers of meaning. In this Gospel passage he is referring to the children who are in his presence that day. He is referring, as well, to children of all times, the innocent of the earth. He is also referring to every human soul (if we would allow it). “Unless you become as little children, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”
