This symbolic work depicts a boat tossed in a storm on a sea of blood. Yet Christ is with his suffering children, and on the mountains above, Our Lady intercedes for us. The valiant little rider holds up the cross, yet in his other hand he holds a sword, not yet understanding that in the fullness of martyrdom we must let go of all weapons and cling to faith alone. Christ is our rescuer.
