These are the two most significant men in the life of Our Lady, the two fathers. In the great hierarchy of being, the principle of fatherhood derives from and is connected to the Fatherhood of God. Our Lady’s unique mission during her lifetime will be dependant on the holiness of Joachim and Joseph. From their sacrifice comes hers. And from hers comes the Saviour of the world. Joachim entrusts his daughter to her future husband, pointing to the heavens, a reference to her role in salvation history until the end of time (Revelation 12). | |||||
