Artist Commentary: Peter, James, and John are overcome with awe as they see the glory of the Lord revealed for a brief time, immediately before he must go down to Jerusalem to suffer. It is an event that prefigures the resurrection and return of Christ in his glorified body, and a confirmation of the divine mission of Jesus: “This is my beloved Son on whom my favor rests. Listen to him.”
