Artist Commentary: In the book of Genesis is recorded the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cautionary tale of the wife of Lot, who looked back toward these sin-filled cities either from curiosity or, more likely, regretting to leave prosperity and comforts behind. She turns into a "pillar of salt." Jesus refers to this in the Gospels when he warns us to "Remember Lot's wife." (see Luke 17:26-33)
